The British Council

The British Council is a longstanding organisation that connects the UK to people around the globe through education, arts, culture and the teaching of English language.

In 2010 Hennessey had the privilege of building the new British Council centre. This involved demolishing the existing teaching facility structure and constructing the new Teaching Centre. Hennessey’s scope also involved the interior fit-out of the 12 classrooms, reception area, small kitchen and café. The building was designed to offer flexibility to the users and so the classrooms had moveable walls to make more space for exams or events.

The purpose of the gold flowing design along the façade was to reference the UAE’s rippling dune landscape and desert sands. Hennessey also built a striking reflection pool at the entrance. This reflection pool and illuminated water cascades create a dramatic impact on a modest sized building.

Hennessey was proud to be involved in this prestigious and key project that provides opportunity to so many.
