Beach Levelling & Profiling at Madinat Jumeirah

As part of our Specialist Services Sector, Hennessey undertakes a number of beach filling, levelling and profiling works for Jumeirah Group and within the Madinat Jumeirah complex along the coast since 2011 to date.

This involves removing sand and sediment that has been deposited by the Arabian Gulf’s current under the link bridge to the Burj Al Arab. This sand is then transported up the beach and deposited beyond the Pier Chic restaurant in order to then build up those areas that have been affected by erosion.

Additionally, any necessary sand is brought in from Port Rashid and transported to the site. All the sand is screened (sieved) and levelled during the re-profiling and nourishment process. In order to not disturb any wildlife in the area, Hennessey works closely with Jumeirah Group to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken.

 The volume of sand that is profiled each year has ranged from 20,000 m³ to 60,000 m³.
