Hennessey constructed a walkway between Al Jalila Hospital and Latifa Hospital in Oud Metha linking them and allowing ease of access for doctors and patients between the two facilities. Our scope involved starting al Al Jalila Hospital and constructing a steel and concrete structure to provide an elevated walkway and then breaking through the from this walkway and into Latifa Hospital.
This was undertaken by Hennessey’s Construction and Civil’s Division and then the interior fit-out of the walkway which was completed by Hennessey’s Interior Division. The aesthetic of this walkway had to be complimentary to the existing interiors of both hospitals.
One of the most notable aspects of this project is that work was all undertaken in a ‘live environment’, meaning that both Al Jalila and Latifa Hospitals remained open with no change to normal operations. Therefore Hennessey completed the project without disruption to the patients, doctors, nurses, administration staff and visitors in each hospital.
Working in a live environment means that noisy work had to be controlled so as not to disrupt doctors and patients, and the highest standards of Health and Safety were maintained at all times. Working in a way that allows hospitals and other businesses to remain open is one of Hennessey’s core competencies, as we understand the importance of organisations being able to maintenance ‘business as usual’ despite any renovation or upgrades.
