About Us
Hennessey LLC is a general contracting company that was founded in 1997 and is currently operating within the whole of the UAE. Our core business was and still remains, construction, although we have expanded at a controlled rate to bring expert interior fit-out, joinery factory, swimming pools and landscaping divisions to our skillset.
Our ability to undertake the full spectrum of building and construction can be demonstrated from the wide range of projects we have completed, for both commercial and residential clients. We are capable and willing to complete projects of any size, from small to multimillion Dirham contracts.
As well as the traditional method of designing, tendering and awarding contracts, we also offer and undertake ‘Design and Build’ with some of our clients, who require a fast track process. We are an established, reputable, stable and trusted contracting partner. Our expertise and our flexibility allows us to tailor our approach to every single project that we undertake. We treat our clients as our partners, and closely work with them to understand their particular needs.
Our in-house resources includes our own Joinery Factory located next to our head office, an extensive range of plant and equipment, skilled technical and trades personnel, dedicated and reliable teams.
Our Story
Hennessey was founded in 1997 by our Managing Director, Des Hennessey with his wife Jan. Des, who has spent more than 40 years working in the construction industry, came to Dubai in 1982 with John Laing. His projects included building Dubai Aluminium’s training centre, building branches for Masreq Bank (then bank of Oman), building the Nad Al Sheba horse race track and building the Aviation Club.
His exemplary project management and leadership skill and the remarkable growth of the UAE meant it was the perfect opportunity to move on from John Laing and onto his own endeavours, and so Hennessey was born. Very much a partnership in all undertakings, Des and Jan Hennessey founded and supported the growth of the business from its small beginnings into the company it is today. After the initial years of success, it was natural to progress onto interior fit-outs with that Division opening in 2002 in order to complement the construction works.
The Pools and Landscaping Division was opened next in 2007, and benefited from the boom of the opening of areas such as Arabian Ranches, the Lakes etc. where it has founded a strong base of loyal customers, building and maintaining pools and gardens, and then moving into commercial projects as well. Finally, the complete Hennessey Joinery Factory was opened in 2010, to further enhance the growth of the Interior Division, and has been conveniently located close to the head office ever since. We have had the privilege of being involved in some of the UAE’s iconic projects, and we are proud to have been a part of the UAE immense growth and prosperity over the last 23 years.
Our website showcases our extensive range of projects, but some of the highlights and iconic points for us include, completing the construction of the Slovenian Pavilion for the Dubai Expo 2020, Amana Hospitals in Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa City and Al Ain, completing the substations and the DEWA Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Solar Parks, Timber works for the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, being the first contractor on the site of the Burj Khalifa to complete site set-up, installing a putting green on the Burj Al Arab Helipad for an advertisement for Jumeirah Group.
We look ahead now and towards continuing to help shape the UAE’s exciting future while constantly striving to develop and make safe the work environment for our people.

Our people have, over the years, been instrumental in our story and building our success. We are proud to have had such skilled, and capable people on board, and we have worked together through many years of regional growth, constantly driving development and providing a safe environment.
We encourage a collaborative spirit, inclusive atmosphere, strong values and endeavour to treat all staff as esteemed members of the team. Many employees have been with Hennessey for years, prompting us to start the 10 Years’ Service Award whereby all staff who have worked with Hennessey for 10 Years are honoured.
Other activities include the Annual Staff Cricket Tournament, which sees Department take on Department and causes much camaraderie, friendly rivalry, celebration and, of course, commiserations.
